Kraft Peanut Butter Holiday Storybook
2020, Illustration
In 2020, I was reached out to by Julie Martinson and the creative team at Salt to illustrate a whole Storybook for Kraft Peanut Butter. As a very devout Kraft Peanut Butter consumer, I could not say no for an opportunity to work with the iconic Kraft Bears especially in this capacity. The ask was to draw out the story Julie wrote which sees Smoothy and Crunchy go from one end of the country to the other to deliver a message for a boy to his grandmother. The book’s contents were posted daily from in December leading up to the finale on Christmas day. The book was later made in a physical copy that was given to contest winners and people featured in the book.

During the duration of the book’s posting on the KPB social accounts, there was an interactive component that readers would choose a part of the story to be reflected the next day. So as I was working, I would have to create a placeholder character to then revise the day of going live. Below is an example of the placeholder character and below that image is the final character dictated by a reader, who was Nicole, a real Ontario resident.

I once had a teacher who read a book to us in Kindergarden and after she read it, she pointed to a character and told the whole class that it was actually her in the book as her friend wrote it. For some reason after that I needed to be that cool and be immortalized in a storybook, so below in the green is yours truly singing SWV’s Christmas songs in the streets of Canada.
